I don’t know about you, but time is a pretty rare commodity these days! I’m always looking for quick and healthy meals for my family and easy snack ideas for kids! Lucky for my my neighborhood Fresh & Easy is right down the street from our house!
A few years back my family and I were so excited when a Fresh & Easy neighborhood market opened up by our home. We’d actually been driving some distance just to go to the store because we loved all the (forgive me for the obvious here) fresh and easy food! Actually our Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market is the closest grocery to our home, so often times we end up going there because it is simply quick.
That isn’t the only thing about Fresh & Easy that is quick! The store is filled with quick meal ideas designed to make my life easier. Whether it’s the pre-marinated meats, the ready to cook full chicken, the prepared salads, or the grab and go meals we love this store.
Often times when I don’t want to cook, and we don’t want to eat out or buy fast food I have my hubs go pick us each up our favorite meals and we both end up getting exactly what we want! In case you are wondering my go-to meal is the Greek Salad with their ready to eat chicken breast slices, and he loves – pretty much all of their grab & go dinners…
Some of our favorite staples to pick up there are their almond milk, and their goodness brand kids products (raisins, applesauce, and crackers.) We love the plantain chips, fresh & easy brand Greek yogurt, and the awesome granola & nut selection they have.
Last Friday we went to Fresh & Easy specifically for a few of my Paleo favorites and on a mission to find some quick and healthy snacks for my son. Snack time has gotten a bit tricky for us as we have a very short window of time to get him to eat between his nap and Tae Kwon Do. We wanted to find yummy, filling, and healthy snacks that really were quick for the days we were short on time.

So many fun snack options! My son wanted to eat them all right away! Luckily I distracted him with letting him help me pour the F&E Wild Berry pre-made Smoothie into our popsicle molds. We’ve bought this product before and my son loves it as a drink, but it was AWESOME as a popsicle! So quick and easy! Plus no sugar added is very important to me. Fruit has enough natural sweetener!
Let me tell you – a day after we made these our air conditioning went out! Inside our home is 85-90 degrees, so these have been the perfect way to cool down after a fun day or before bed!
Finally I wanted to share a smoothie that my son loves! It is so simple to make and I can always guarantee that I have these ingredients on hand! My son asked (as you can see in the above video) for a PB&J treat. He love PB&Js which are actually almond butter or sunbutter and jam. We don’t use peanut butter in our home, and since it’s summer and we have all this amazing fresh fruit we usually make our own chia jam.
- 1 Cup Almond Milk
- 1 Cup Frozen Mixed Berries
- 4 T flax seed
- 1 Banana (fresh or frozen)
- 2 T Almond Butter
- 1 Small Handful Spinach (optional not pictured)
- Place all ingredients into the blender and blend
- Pour and enjoy!
Clearly you can see that my son loves this smoothie! Actually when I’m not doing the 21 Day Sugar Detox I love this smoothie too! The flax adds a nutty taste and packs lots of healthy omega-3s into this smoothie, and the almond butter packs a one-two combo of protein/healthy fat!
Okay, I’m done gushing about F&E! I do get excited when I can find good produce, fresh meat/seafood, and lots of healthy snacks for my whole family in one place. I’m all about saving time, and Fresh & Easy certainly does that!
